Velo Social #1 completed

OK the weather and mechanical problems limited our group to the usual twosome of Gman92069 and myself but we stayed social. Tough ride today, lots of climbing for a fat old dude like me but I have to get ready for even more climbing at Levi's King Ridge Gran Fondo in October. I hesitate to say that this could become a bi-weekly ride. It is difficult without laying me out for the rest of the day so it will definately be in this summers rotation.

Here are the stats for those of you interested in that kind of stuff, we certainly didn't set any records but that was never our intention.

Trying to ride out the illness

I know this rarely works but I have had a dry cough, runny nose, and scratchy throat the last couple days so I went out today to pay a visit to Performance Bikes in Oceanside and just try to ride out this cold.

Mixed bag of small rings high cadence and climbing.

See for yourself:

New record on my TT course

I'm gonna feel this one tomorrow. I have decided I have been going to easy on myself and decided to get some zone 5 into more of my rides.

If you care, take a look.

Garmin Connect - Activity Details for 2-1-10

Today's ride started with a meet-up at the fire station on the top off Twin Oaks Valley road. As Eric lives on one side and I on the other we thought it was a logical place to start. We road south and west to the coast against an evil headwind and turned north along the PCH until finally getting the wind at our backs along La Costa heading east. Up El Camino to Palomar Airport Road and then down Melrose back to Rancho Santa Fe and back onto San Elijo Road and finished back at the fire station on top of Twin Oaks. We did not attempt Double Peak this time.

If Eric ever tells you how out of shape he is and that he is suffering with 20 extra pounds don't fall for it, he still has great fitness. He was pulling me along north on the PCH into the wind at 22 -23 mph and when I took a pull I could only manage 18 mph for a short time into the wind. So consider yourself warned.

Eric is the fitting technician behind www.bikfit.com he also has a couple of other alias's which you can discover on hisweb site. Eric fit me on my bike and is continuing to moinitor my position and suggest some minor tweaks. If you have never had a true professional bike fitting you will be amazed at what a few simple adjustments will do for your comfort and power. Let me say that again, you will be amazed at what a few simple adjustments will do for your comfort and power.

Her's my data, don't know if anyone looks but here it is anyway.
